Family is the foundation of creation. Without family, one cannot imagine the existence of human. The way today's world is going, the importance of family increases even more. Today, the day of May 15 is observed as International Day of Families.
Purpose of International Day of Families
International Families Day is celebrated on 15th May every year to highlight the importance of family, new resolutions, awareness and challenges. A Society is always incomplete in the absence of Family. So, it is very vital for people to live and join together to form a family. In this article, we are going to give you all the information related to International Families Day.
Families were disbanded even earlier, talking about the old ages. But the dissolution of families has become common in the contemporary modern society. International Day of Families is celebrated to prevent the disintegration of families. When we live with our families we do not feel desolation, depression or any such type of ill feelings. Besides, we remain stress free, calm, positive and placid. All kinds of negativity and social evils are prohibited from entering a healthy family. Thus, the main objective of International Family Day is to make the youth aware of the importance of family.
Beginning of International Day of Familes
The United Nations General Assembly, in 1993, announced to observe 15th May as International Day of Families. This day is celebrated as International Family Day to connect communities and people around the globe with their families, make them aware of social processes, and spread awareness in the society on family related issues.
Theme of International Families Day 2020
International Families Day was first celebrated in the year 1996. Its theme was Familes: First Victims of Poverty and Homelessness. Since 1996, International Families Day is celebrated with a special theme. The United Nations also recommended this to be based on a special theme.
The theme of Internal Day of Families 2020 is
Families in Development: Copenhagen & Beijing+25as the present year marks the 25th anniversary of the Copenhagen Declaration and Beijing Platform for Action, which coincided with the most challenging global health and social crises. The COVID-19 epidemic focuses on the importance of investing in social policies, protecting the most vulnerable individuals and families. It is the families who bear the brunt of the crisis, protect their members from harm, and at the same time fulfill the responsibilities of their work.

- The theme of International Family Day 2019 was "Families and Climate Action: Focus on SDG13".
- The theme of International Family Day 2018 was "Families and inclusive Societies".
- The theme of International Family Day 2017 was "Families: Education and Well-being".
- The theme of International Families Day 2016 was "Families: Healthy Lives and Sustainable Future".
- The theme of International Family Day 2015 was “Men in charge? Gender Equality and Neighbouring Rights in Contemporary Families ”.
